Reflection Piece for Peru Market
These photographs were taken to show the different stands at a typical Peruvian market. I wanted to show how different the market is from any in the U.S., but I also wanted to show some of the vendors. For the most part, people were fine with me photographing them. I tried not to interfere too much with their work.
I was trying to work with the light and composition, as well as looking for moments. In this group of photographs, I wanted to show the vendors and the products.
Though they were not specifically posed, some of the photographs reveal the character of the vendor, while others use contrast and color to create interesting patterns of composition. I am often drawn to the color in open-air markets.
